OUR UNSUNG AND FORGOTTEN HEROES

Author Rekha Gupta

Like you, I too have often wondered as to how ‘uniquely endowed were those, who without a flinch, without a thought, sacrificed their lives for their homeland . It’s not easy to willingly sacrifice one’s life knowing that they may not live to see an independent Bharat yet so what exactly was their Passion, Compassion, Zeal and Grit like, that they embraced Martyrdom so easily and smilingly ?

The Martyrs and each & every Soldier of Indian Freedom Movement, who selflessly fought against the atrocities of the British rule are the Real Heroes of the Nation . Believe me this is not a regular patriotic blog describing some repetitive stories from history. This read is an effort to highlight and glorify their struggles & their heroism to enjoy what we have in the name of freedom now, and to responsibly pass on these important episodes from history to our generation next by not only narrating it to them, but by setting a right precedent too.

Bharat was the richest country, actually better known as ‘Sonay ki chidiya’ till the 17th century, the sole reason that attracted the invaders . Bharat was invaded time and again by the Mughals then the Britishers .

According to history of the Indian Mutiny an ‘untold holocaust’ caused the deaths of about 10 million or more Indians in just 10 years beginning 1857, Indian men and women both rose up against the barbaric rule of the britishers in a struggle to destroy the British power on our soil and a single mission to see again an independent Bharat. For the dignity of their homeland, millions sacrificed their lives while many others were imprisoned wherein they were tortured for life.C@Rg

In 1947 after Independence, when these martyrs should have been worshipped and written about, they were on the contrary , deliberately and strategically kept away from our history texts with just about a mere fleeting mention. All that we read and was written about in our text books were the barbaric invaders greatness and courage . Should you all ever doubt if history was distorted or twisted for us Bhartiyas, then just remember ‘you are still driving on roads & sitting in buildings named after these invaders’. Pray, which country has ever done that ? It’s time we realised , what a large conspiracy we have all been a part of,and that truly is spine chilling.

This or any other write up in no way can not do an iota of justice to their fearless spirit , indomitable courage, but by knowing them , remembering them and expressing our gratitude and not letting the future generations ever forget who they need to really thank for their freedom is the least we can do for our Martyrs. If there are some known martyrs , believe me there are several many unknown and many many more lost into oblivion without ever a mention anywhere , all those who laid their lives in their desire to free Bharat from the clutches of Britishers. This is only a humble attempt to know and learn some lesser known facts that were perhaps hidden for some selfish agenda , about as many real heroes. It has been 75 years of Independence and the freedom martyrs have not been given their rightful place in our school texts .C@R

Remember those who Forget their Past may also Forfeit their Future.

Revolutionaries / freedom fighters : The mere mention of their names and we experience a plethora of emotions all at once : fills us with pride, we bow in gratitude to them and they leave us teary eyed……

Shaheed Chandra Shekhar Tiwari born on 23rd july 1906 in Bhavra village (now known as Chandra Shekar Azad Nagar) in Madhya Pradesh. As a child playing with bheels he was skilled in archery. He joined the freedom movement at a tender age of 15 . During one of the various demonstrations when he was first caught by the police, the magistrate asked : what is your name ? He replied – Azad (Free), what is your father’s name ? He replied – Swatantrta (freedom), Where do you live? he replied – Jail( Prison) and his replies further infuriated the magistrate who punished him to 15 whiplashes wherein with every whiplash he sang ‘ Vande Mataram’ and this is how he came to be known as ‘Azad’. To gather more supporters for ‘Indian Freedom Movement’ , he coined a line- ”if yet your blood does not rage then it is water that flows in your veins, what is the flush of youth if it is not of any service to the motherland ”. In 1925 Azad was part of the famous ”Kakori train robbery” that brought the freedom fighters in direct confrontation with the Britishers who began a massive manhunt for freedom fighters. Azad as always managed to escape for he was known for his agility to move about undetected. After the Kakori incident Azad reorganised the party wherein he got immense help from other freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev. In 1928 Azad who was considered a master strategists was chosen as the chief of Hindustan Socialist Republican Association – HSRA and for the first time women were brought at par with the male revolutionaries. Azad aimed to liberate Bharat from not just British oppressors but the internal traitors too. On 23rd February 1931 Azad was surrounded by police and shot in his thigh, making it difficult for him to escape. He chose to shoot himself, keeping his vow of dying a free man.The irony is that as usual an insider, one of our own had tipped the police of Azad being in Alfred Park( now Azad Park) in Prayag Raj.

Shaheed Sukhdev Thappar born on 15th May 1907 in Ludhiana Punjab. He played a major role in Indian Freedom Movement who will always be remembered for sacrificing his life for the cause. On witnessing the brutal atrocities inflicted by the British on Indians, Sukhdev joined the revolutionaries and HSRA. He with others started the Naujawan Bharat Sabha vowing to set India free and side by side he went on to educate the youth at National College of Lahore about India’s glorious past thus inspiring the youth & gearing them for the freedom struggle. He took active part in several courageous revolutionary activities but will be always remembered for the daring attacks in the Lahore conspiracy case in 1928 that was a very big blow to the British. Sukhdev was an accomplice of Bhagat Singh and Rajguru who assassinated J P Saunders. After the bombings on Central Assembly, he too was arrested, unfairly tried and verdict was passed giving a death sentence.Veer Sukhdev , Bhagat Singh ,Rajguru and others led the famous prison hunger strike that made these Nationalist a household name across Bharat. Sukhdev along with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru was tried and sentenced to be hanged on 24th March 1931 at dawn.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh : was one of the most vocal and powerful revolutionaries of the ”Indian Freedom Movement” who gave his life for the cause. Born on 27th September 1907 in the village Banga of Punjab. He was familiar with revolutionary activities as he belonged to a family of active revolutionaries . As a child with all innocence he sowed a gun in his farm to grow many more guns that would help him to finish the Britishers. On 13th April 1919 British troops opened fire on a large crowd gathered to celebrate the festival of Baisakhi on the ground of Jallianwala Bagh and turned the festivity into a grieving & mourning blood bath that was one of the most heart wrenching massacre ever in human history . Bhagat Singh who was just 12 years old, picked up a handful of mud soaked in blood from Jallianwala Bagh and vowed to finish the British rule . He vehemently opposed Gandhi’s non-violence movement. He coined the phrase Inquilab Zindabad to motivate the youth to participate in the Indian Freedom Movement. In 1926 he founded the Naujavan Bharat Sabha ( youth society of Bharat ) and thereafter he joined the HSRA too where he got to interact with several more prominent revolutionaries. Indian National Congress (INC) & Gandhi were asking the Britishers for a ”Dominion status” which was not acceptable to Bhagat Singh and his comrades. Bhagat Singh openly opposed this as a compromise ,instead Bhagat Singh & his comrades demanded a Sampoorn Swarajya ( complete independence),which made the people aware & realise the difference between what Gandhi was asking and what Bhagat Singh demanded .This became a major concern to the Britishers as they witnessed the rise of Bhagat Singhs popularity whereas Gandhi & INC started to loose their hold on the youth. In 1928 he with Sukhdev & others planed to avenge the death of his mentor Lala Lajpat Rai who was killed by James Scot. But instead in a case of mistaken identity JP Saunders was killed. In 1929 he and Batukeshwar Dutt threw a bomb in the ”Central Legislative Assembly” Delhi for wanting the ”deaf to hear”. When he was arrested Bhagat Singh & his comrades went on a hunger strike in jail to protest against the deplorable conditions there. The Britishers thought Bhagat Singh and others would not survive even a few days. On 63rd day of the hunger strike ‘Veer Jatin Das’ lost his life that infuriated people across Bharat .And Bhagat Singh on being requested by his father, finally broke his hunger strike after 116 days on 5th October 1929.This record breaking hunger strike made these nationalists a household name which became a major threat for the Britishers as well as Gandhi because Bhagat Singh’s popularity kept rising above Gandhi’s. On Seeing a constant upsurge in Bhagat Singh’s popularity, the INC had no option but to change their stand, so from asking for Dominion Status changed it to Sampoorn Swarajya just a year before Bhagat Singh was executed. Bhagat Sing along with Sukhdev and Rajguru was tried and sentenced to be hanged on 24th March 1931 at dawn. Bhagat Singh said : ‘they may kill me but they cannot kill my ideas, they may crush my body, but they will not be able to crush my spirit’.

Shaheed Shivaram Rajguru : born on24th August 1908 in Khed, Pune which has been renamed as Rajguru Nagar. We all know him as die hard companion of Bhagat singh and Sukhdev. Yes of course, like them he too was a famous revolutionary with a fearless spirit who gave up his life for his country at the age of 23. His inspiration came by Lokmanya Tilak’s revolutionary ideas. He was only six when his father passed away but he was so good at academics that at the age of 15 he walked for six days to Varanasi to take admission in a Sanskrit School ,where he met other revolutionaries. Like all the other revolutionaries he could not bear the brutal atrocities that the British inflicted on Bharatiyas and with a single aim to free Bharat from the clutches of the British, he joined HSRA. He along with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev assassinated JP Saunders. He too was arrested ,unfairly tried and verdict was passed giving a death sentence. Veer Sukhdev , Bhagat Singh ,Rajguru and others led the famous prison hunger strike that made these Nationalist a house hold name across Bharat. Rajguru along with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev was tried and sentenced to be hanged on 24th March 1931 at dawn.

Bhagat Singh in his last petition had demanded to be executed by a ‘firing squad as a freedom fighter ‘ and not to be hanged like a common prisoner but this went unheeded. A British lawyer named Dennis Nowell Pritt went to argue and appeal against a wrong trial and sentence, before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council .Bhagat Singh along with Sukhdev and Rajguru was tried and sentenced to be hanged on 24th March 1931 at dawn. But they were hanged in total SECRECY, eleven hours earlier , on 23rd march at 7.30 pm. They marched to the gallows smiling and shouting slogans that even in their death, there would be patriotism left in them and they thereafter actually kissed the ‘hangman’s noose. The news of their untimely & conspired hanging swept across the country that saw public outrage erupt like never before .The hanging was an emotional turning point for people, the youth & elderly took to the revolutionary path to keep the zeal & flame of Nationalism & Patriotism ignited.

Unanswered Questions

It has emerged that Bhagat Singhs, Sukhdev and Rajguru’s conviction was pronounced by a court , which did not have the approval of the legislature for its constitution. The death warrant issued for Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru was illegal. And the trial violated the principle of natural justice. Why the unfair hurried trial ? If a British lawyer Dennis Nowell Pritt went to argue and appeal against a wrong trial and a wrong sentence before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council then why did the Indian leaders not appeal ? Veer Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were to be executed on 24th March 1931 at dawn. Why then were they hanged a day earlier on 23rd march in secrecy ? Why for the first time the execution took place in the evening? Why the secrecy behind a hurried execution? Was it a venomous vendetta of our very own? Why their families and the waiting public could not see their heroes one last time ? Why were the families not allowed to meet them before the execution ? They were hanged by the British but why is it written in innumerous write ups that this became an ultimate stain of dishonour that Gandhi never succeeded in removing ? Next day after the hangings ,why was Gandhi shown black flags ? Why were the families not given the bodies of the martyrs to perform the last rites ? Where and who did their last rites ?

23rd March is celebrated as ”Martyr’s Day” in honour of their immense sacrifice for the motherland. Every Indian where ever and however busy should remember and bow down in gratitude to them.

Shaheed Surya Sen: born on 22nd March 1894 in Naopara Chittagong. Known as Masterda who is remembered for leading the 1930 Chittagong Armoury raid . Inspired by many others he believed in the ideology of violence as the only means to end the British rule hence joined a revolutionary organisation. Sen along with Ganesh ghosh ,lokenath Bal, Anand Singh and others formed a group of revolutionaries. To fight the British, Sen and his group needed to be armed so they planned to capture the British Armoury and then distribute the weapons to the revolutionaries to establish armed units. As per their plan the group succeeded in dismantling the telephone & telegraph systems. They then broke the railway link between the city and rest of the Bengal . In 1930 on 18th April they successfully captured 2 armouries that had guns and rifles . They split in smaller groups to hide in the neighbouring village. The villagers kept them safe despite the manhunt by Britishers until his own friend Netra Sen informed the British that Surya Sen was hiding in his house. He and his comrades were arrested in February 1933 and were brutally tortured in captivity wherein his bones were broken and nails pulled out.His spirit never broke and Sen was eventually hanged on 12th January 1934.

Shaheed Tikendrajit Singh: born on 29th December 1856 and was the Crown Prince of Manipur who sacrificed his life in the freedom struggle for India. He was aware that the Britishers were plotting to change Manipur to a colony of their own hence to protect the sovereignty of his state, he fearlessly fought against the British. In March 1891 the British troops attacked Manipur and the Manipur army was led by Tikendrajit Singh himself . He was arrested and sentenced to death. On 13th August 1891 Tikendrajit Singh and Thangal were hanged publicly at Polo Ground in Imphal, later this was renamed as Bir Tikendrajit Park and Manipur celebrates this day as Patriot’s Day in memory of Bir Tikendrajit Sing.

Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil : born on 11th June 1897 in Shahjahpur- Madhya Pradesh. A revolutionary and a renowned poet who penned poems to encourage the youth to participate in the freedom struggle . One of the founders of the HSRA he was involved in the Manipur Conspiracy and the Kakori Conspiracy. Ram Prasad Bismil was arrested and then hanged on 19 th December 1927.

Shaheed Khudiram Bose : born on 3rd December 1889 in Medinipur -West Bengal. He joined other freedom fighters at the age of 15 to take part in revolutionary activities against the British Raj. In an attempt to kill British Chief Magistrate Douglas he and Prafulla Chaki accidentally killed two British women that led to Khudiram’s arrest and on 11th August 1908 Khudiram was hanged to death at the age of 18.

Shaheed Alluri Sitaram Raju : born on 4th July 1897 in Bheemunipatnam. He was a Nationalist who fought for the freedom of our country till his last breath. He along with others led raids on police stations and stole guns and ammunition and succeeded in killing several British officers . After the 1882 Madras Forest act the Britishers had imposed restrictions on the free movement of tribals in the forest. He fought for the tribes men and is remembered for leading the Rampa Rebellion of 1922 against the Britishers .This came to an end on 7th May 1924 when Alluri was trapped in the forest was tied to a tree and shot dead by the British.

Shaheed Durga Malla : born on 1st July 1913 in Dehradun who caught everyones attention for being publicly vocal against Britishers and was actively engaged in anti-British activities in his locality as a child. He was deeply concerned about the pathetic state of the country therefore joined the freedom struggle. In 1931 when he was just 18 he fled to Dharamshala and got enrolled in Gorkha Rifles . In September 1941 all Gorkha battalions reached Malaya( Malaysia) . Following an attack on 8th December by Japan on allied forces (Britain, France,America )war was declared. Japanese tightened their grip that weakened the British forces. In December 1941 a group of Indian Soldiers lost their way in the jungle and one of the officers ”Captain Mohan Singh” did not wish to rejoin the retreating British forces as he was convinced that Indian Soldiers had no reason to fight for the Britishers instead saw it as an opportunity to fight the Britishers along with the Japanese as such he and his group approached Major Fujiwara of Japan who assured to go all out to assist and also declared that 40,000 Indian prisoners of war who were handed over to the Japanese Government by the British would be now under the control of Captain Mohan Singh. Japanese assistance to the movement saw 2 conferences held in Tokyo and Bangkok in 1942 where the important decision to raise the Indian National Army was taken. Thus on 1st September 1942 in Singapore the Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauz) was officially formed ,which was headed by Neta ji Subhash Chandra Bose, that was a major milestone in the history of India’s Freedom Struggle. In 1942 Durga Malla joined the Indian National Army and initially was given the responsibility to mobolise volunteers for the Army. Playing a key role he earned promotion to rank of Major and was posted in the intelligence branch. He used to collect and send important information to the headquarters of INA. On 27th March 1944 while on a mission, collecting information about the enemy camps he was arrested in Manipur. Thereafter Durga Malla was kept in the prison at Red Fort ,tried and was given death sentence. On 25th August 1944 Durga Malla was executed by hanging. 25th August is observed as Balidan Diwas by Gorkhas across Bharat in memory of Durga Malla.

Shaheed Udham Singh : born on 26th December 1899 at Sangrur Punjab. His mother died when he was an infant and his father too passed away a few years later , he and his brother Mukta Singh were taken in by Central Khalsa Orphanage in Amritsar. On 10th April 1919 ,local leaders were arrested under the Rowllat Act. Indians protesting against the arrests were fired on by the britishers . On 13th April 1919 over twenty thousand people had assembled in Jallianwala Bagh to celebrate the festival of Baisakhi and to silently protest against the arrests. Udham Singh along with his friends was serving water to to the crowd ( some other research says he reached after the massacare ) when General Dyer ordered his troops to open fire on the crowd, killing thousands of people. Udham Singh an adolescent was devastated by the horrific sight of thousands that lay dead strewn all over and at places the dead lay heaped in piles , another hundred lay dead in a well in which people had jumped to escape the bullets .The earth that had soaked in blood and cries of the wounded and surviving grieving mourners that ripped the skies and the heart of nation alike . This was the turning point in Udham’s life as he vowed to kill General Dyer and finish the inhuman British rule on our soil . Moreover Udham was deeply influenced by Bhagat Singh thus became involved in revolutionary activities to accomplish his mission. In 1924 Udham Singh joined the Ghadar Party, mostly travelling abroad to organise revolutionary support overseas to overthrow the Britishers. In 1927 on his return with arms and ammunition he with 25 other associates was caught for which he was arrested and sent to prison for 5 years for being in possession of unlicensed arms. Those 5 years in Prison being tortured inhumanly and the feeling of helplessness at his mission being delayed ,to await release so as to free India ,is unfathomable for you and me. Upon his release from prison in 1931 despite his movements under constant surveillance by the police, he succeeded in evading the police and reached Germany. In 1934 upon reaching London, he started on his plan to assassinate Dyer. To keep his identity secret, he had to leave and re-enter England several times ,each time with a new name .After a wait of 6 years on 13th March 1940 when Michael O Dyer was scheduled to be at a joint meeting at Caxton Hall ,London, Udham entered the hall with the revolver concealed inside a book and moving towards the speaking platform, he shot twice at O’Dyer with one bullet passing through 0’Dyers heart killing him almost instantly and he fired at few others too who were injured and thereafter he surrendered . BBC was the first to break the news of Dwyer’s assassination. On one hand the news of the assassination spread like wildfire across the world like never before and probably was the most publicised incident of its times and on the other hand Indian press went silent. This was a protest of a different magnitude altogether, unfathomable to the world as to how an Indian travelled incognito to reach England, how did he manage to survive in secrecy for 6 years amongst the Brits and then to have shot O Dwyer in his own country, the msg was loud and clear to the world.German radio station reported the incident as ”the Indian freedom movement has now gone in direct action against the English oppressors of India. The assassination shook the very foundation of the British Raj. When Indians were rejoicing Udham’s daring act, the Indian Politicians were critical of Udham’s action. Following his conviction ,Udham made a speech which the judge directed not to be released to the press . Udham was charged with murder and while awaiting his trial he went on a 42 day hunger strike, after which he was forced fed by the Brits who did not want Udham to become a Martyr in the eyes of the world . Udham Singh was convicted of murder and on 31st July 1940 was hanged to death. His remains are preserved at the Jallianwala Bagh and on July 31st every year ,marches are held in Sunam (Sangrur district in Punjab) in his memory and his every statue is garlanded in the city as a mark of tribute.

While in custody Udham Singh stated his name as ‘Ram Mohammad Singh Azad’, the first three words of the name reflect the three major religious communities of Bharat and the last word Azad literally means Free*. What Udham Singh really meant was ‘he was representing all the three main religious communities of the country that were free’, that was his belief ,vision and mission .C@Rg

LESSER KNOWN FACTS OUR FREEDOM STRUGGLERS HAD TO FACE

1 – We have only read fleeting mentions of the Bengal Famines during the British rule. Truth is that they were man made famines for their profit , called as the worst genocide in human history for profit. And the worst hit were West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand. Grain was shipped from Bengal to England to reserve stocks for British Soldiers in Europe while Indians were starving to death. Countless man made famines were created in India in 1770 , 1783, 1866, 1892, 1897 and 1943 .One Famine of 1770 that went on till 1773 : the numbers are staggering: killing more than 10 million people, wiping one third of Bengal’s population then imagine how many were killed in the six man made famines the British created .To suppress the revolutionaries , Britain overnight increased taxes up to 50% . With the New Enforced 50% taxation, the surplus stock if any finished rapidly with nothing left for people .Thousands migrated elsewhere only to die of starvation later.

2- An estimated 2.5 million Indians were separated from their home and family who were forcibly taken as SLAVES and sent overseas to other Colonial countries to work in their plantations and mines. Not only men but women were taken too for the gratification of the Britishers enroute . Many died during the passage itself aboard ships. While Many others died because of overwork and starvation and those who survived kept hoping to return to their homeland.

3- Was India at war with any country during World War 1 & 2 ? No, of course not. Yet Britishers forced rather threw millions of unwilling Bhartiya Soldiers into a direct bloodbath at various fronts that saw unprecedented levels of carnage and destruction wherein millions of Bhartiyas died .C@Rg

4 – In 2018 in a study by economist Utsa Patnaik ,estimated that the Britishers took away $ 45 trillion at todays value , out of India in 190 years – that should give you a sense of what really happened in those years. Besides this diamonds, gold, silver and all of India’s natural resources were syphoned out of India.

5 – Former Under Secretary General of the United Nations participated in a debate at the Oxford Union wherein he argued : ”Britain’s rise was financed by its depredations in India. Britain’s industrial revolution was actually premised upon the de-industrialisation of India. The cruel ways in which the farmers and craftsmen were bled by imposing unimaginable taxes and punitive duties on their produce .They smashed the looms so people could not practice their craft, the weavers thumb’s were cut off so when the looms were repaired they couldn’t weave again, systematically and ruthlessly destroyed the worlds best and the biggest textile industry. The weavers in India became beggars and India from being a world famous exporters of finished cloth, was turned into an importer . This gentleman is a famous well known MP of the current opposition, yet he doesn’t shy away from being an exemplary nationalist simply by doing his bit i.e reminding us again and yet again the atrocities of the Britishers. He truly showcases how it is possible to rise above one’s political ideologies and be a patriot no matter what.

6 –Britishers came to the richest country India that had a GDP of 30 % . Diamonds, Gold,Silver,Iron , Copper ,Cotton,Spices and all natural resources were looted and shipped to U K by Britishers for their profit. And with over 200 years of exploitation, destruction, depredation and loot when the Britishers left India in 1947, India’s GDP had fallen to a mere 3% , as compared to 30 % when the British first came. This has been documented by Angus Maddison a British historian & economist who has done an analysis of world GDP of past 2000 years , wherein it is documented that Bharat’s contribution was more than 1/3 rd of the total worlds GDP in the first millennium. These statistics ,make it easier for the world to understand how enormously wealthy Bharat was.

7 – When Britishers came to India, Bharat had a literacy rate of more than 95% with Glorious & Majestic Universities of ancient Bharat that were the most influential centers of learning where students from all over the world flocked to gain knowledge and to acquire skills & achieve greatness . Massive 20 to 30 universities spread all over Bharat and a school in almost every village. In 1835 the Britishers strategically and successfully westernised education in India: English was declared the official language for the government and courts. And when they left in 1947, the literacy rate of India was a mere 12% .

8 – Although we all know this fact deeply so, it doesn’t harm to remind ourselves that how we as a nation stood united during the 1857 Mutiny , where the Britishers were actually shocked to see Hindu ,Sikh and Muslims fighting together as one. In the worst conspiracy the Britishers then launched a divide and rule policy along religious lines and thereafter financed the creation of the muslim league as a rival body thereby deliberately splitting the Nationalist and thus began the longest painful ever chapter of our history wherein millions died during India’s Partition that would never have happened but for the British.

9 – History that we read is not our real history as our text books were re-written by the Britishers thus completely twisted and distorted therein making Moguls and Britishers as the heroes who defeated the Brave courageous kings like Maharana Pratap and others, this couldn’t be further from truth. The battle of SARAGARHI wherein guarding a post when unsuspecting 21 Bharitya Sikh soldiers were attacked, instead of retreating chose to fight against an army of 10,000 , that stands testimony of Bhartiya’s unparalleled Spirit ,Valour, Passion , Commitment, Nationalism and Patriotism. Please do search about others & Maharana Pratap who was indomitable.C@Rg

The west in its predatory form came into Bharat in the mid 18th century because of which India faced two centuries of slavery and till date is facing humiliation by the West.…. I can’t help wonder at this utterly ridiculous and audacious behaviour by the Britishers where after a flagrant act of looting a country, they still conduct themselves with such snooty behaviour without so much of a hint of regret or remorse and on the contrary , the country they looted, they continue to mock, belittle and humiliate on every possible opportunity.(OR maybe they are simply cowering under this sham act)

REFLECT !

History is witness to how the second largest populated country was invaded time and again and ruled by a handful of invaders, How ? Thought to ponder. Each time  by ‘our very own corrupt traitors’ who did not think twice before committing treason. Because there were those who neither had a conscience nor saw beyond short term selfish gains, and most certainly did not understand what national pride or being patriotic is. Invaders did not bring an army with them, but our very own had joined these invaders as their army.

And we are still burdened and tainted by inherited treason.

‘Treason is the worst felony ever as its putting the country’s and every fellow citizens freedom in jeopardy.

One Who Doesn’t Love One’s Country Can Love No Other.

In a family if there is a clash of opinions, does one take to the streets to shame or to protest against the family? Obviously not, as one would want internal disagreements to remain secretive & inside the 4 walls of their home for the fear of being mocked at. Then why do a certain section of citizens endlessly rant against the government (thats almost become a fad), take to the streets to protest and shame the country in this mindless quest ? This according to me is treason . Remember yours, mine & everyones home is a part of our homeland . Sadly such people believe in a particular political party’s ideologies but do not attach an iota of value to the country’s pride . They have no qualms in highlighting the internal issues to the world out there, waiting to mock us and to take advantage of our internal differences.

You are as Safe inside your Home as Your Home Land is.

PAUSE TO REALIZE :

Citizens of this nation have always taken our Independence and freedom for granted. But what is even more alarming is that each new generation is going further away from real history and are totally disconnected. For them to realise, feel and treasure the relevance & significance of this Independent Bharat is our responsibility.C@Rg

Do not for a second forget……..how

…….For The Last 75 years our freedom is being zealously protected every minute by our soldiers who are out there securing our borders from anyone who dares to take one step towards the borders. We sleep & move about carefree enjoying our freedom because out there in unfathomable & unnatural conditions with meagre supplies are the brave hearts guarding our freedom .

In addition to the above, whenever natural calamities like earthquakes, landslides, floods, cyclones etc. occur, guess who comes- rather jumps to the rescue of the people ? Obviously the armed forces.

Do not for a minute dismiss their Patriotism as normal, or a routine job, that somebody has to do it. Never never question the Armed Forces. (like many shamelessly did after the Surgical Strike) . A man becomes a Soldier not for wanting anything but to give away everything that he has including his life for his country. I’m sure you all are aware how most super power nations of the world have made it mandatory for every youth graduating, to serve their armed forces for a few years before leading a life of their choice. Our is perhaps one of the few countries where young men willingly join the armed forces . Every Martyr ,every soldier who may not be one of our immediate family but is still one of our very own, from amongst us and certainly is ‘MORE THAN A FAMILY’ . Loss of even one Soldier is an irreparable loss to the whole country . The least we can do to show we care is by – not to carelessly and mindlessly undo their sacrifice…..how…….

CURRENT SCENARIO !

With Social Media, all that it takes for people is to Tweet or comment a silly opinion to the world or share a forwarded msg, pic against our country’s current state of affairs without realising the implications and the conniving agenda behind an Anti India Pic or an Anti India msg. In other countries with the strictest of laws no one would dare to spread misinformation as they will be held for treason.C@Rg

Next time you pick up the phone to make a sarcastic tweet against the government or country or send a picture forward, Please pause …….as in todays time it is this very causal act of forwarding an anti message that is no less than betrayal to your country, and every time you do that , Remember, there is a soldier sacrificing his life almost every second day. ๐Ÿ’›

Everything comes with a price tag and the bill of our freedom is picked by our soldiers’.

It is now common knowledge now that funds are being mobilized from abroad to organize protests and dharmas against the Government to create unrest in Bharat . But remember those who are funding ( sitting abroad) will not be affected but every single Bhartiya is directly affected , and those who are a pawn in the hands of the mischief makers will not escape either , so beware before you harm your country…….

Traitors inside the country ,who are amongst us are more dangerous than the enemy countries . We are in a constant dilemma as to how to recognize them and then how to fight our very own for they want to divide Bharat yet again. But remember that our parents & grandparents are still traumatized from the horrific time of the last partition, that triggered mass riots & devastation and migration of millions who lost their home & family to it. The wounds have yet not healed…..

It’s so easy to criticize but so difficult to deliver .

Rights and responsibility go hand in hand .

Just because we cannot be at the borders securing them, does not mean we have an excuse not to do anything else.

Are we ready to play our role in guarding our freedom & our country from the vultures waiting out there to prey.

Are we ready to accept the Challenge of being a Soldier for our motherland in our own small way ?

For you and me to be the soldier of our country, are we ready to sacrifice ? No, not one’s life nor anything materialistic but ‘To Sacrifice Small Wrong Acts….

Sacrifice the temptations TO GET WRAPPED IN SOCIAL MEDIA AND CAUSE HARM TO OUR COUNTRY IN ANY WAY. Remember this is just a recently developed vice!

Sacrifice the temptation to pointing fingers at our Prime Minister and our Armed Forces ( our Prime Minister and our Armed Forces are not to be politicised )

Sacrificing the temptation of lying and participating in malicious rumours or debates about the government & the country, at a club, park, or your drawing room. The energy spreads and fast.

Sacrifice the temptation to accept a bribe or to give bribe .

Sacrifice the temptation to resist the governments decision to name the country, cities, states ,roads etc. back to their original name.

Sacrifice the temptation to break law and order by the power of money or contacts or in the name of protests.

Sacrifice the temptation to grab public space in and around your home or encroachments of public paths & spaces( this is greed & theft that leads to giving bribe that will ultimately lead to bigger thefts and bigger bribe)

Sacrifice the temptation to indulge in any illegal activity to make quick money for sooner or later when the wrongs are exposed, will bring only shame to the whole family who will not feel responsible for your wrong deeds , (we all have heard various stories wherein the head of the family commits sins to feed the family that enjoyed the perks but the family refused to be punished along him for his sins)

Sacrifice the temptations to move ahead in life on the crutches of ‘Reservations‘ , that obviously was then politically initiated & used as a vote bank : wherein now 50 % of the school seats are reserved for certain castes that takes away the opportunity from deserving ones . Reservation is a bane that is harming us all equally, exposing us to mediocre professionals …. for it is one country and should be only on basis of Merit for everyone alike.

Lastly Sacrifice the temptation to Resist Change.

In this insane obsession to take sides or show affiliation to a political party , we have forgotten somewhere to be a good citizen also, let alone have the moral values of a soldier.

INSPIRING INFLUENCERS WHO ARE SOLDIERS IN THEIR OWN SPIRIT!

Currently in our country there are several such people of high stature and eminence who are using their power to reach masses and influence people in a positive way . Some of these people who are proud Indians, are soldiers in their own right at their respective work stations like …our former Under Secretary General with United Nations, former Cabinet Ministers, News Anchors, youtube influencers, writers , gurus, nutritionist, historians etc….. They constantly talk about Bharat, our correct history and try to connect us to our roots with pride and remind the citizens time and again not to forget the atrocities that the Britishers or Mughals committed on us.They remind us not to take our freedom for granted and bow to Martyrs & Soldiers day in and out. These people are soldiers in their own way, strengthening the country. The thing about eminent people is that they have the power to influence millions across the country which maybe more challenging for a common man to do. They make us feel proud time and again that we belong to a country like Bharat!!

Remember Iron cannot be damaged by anything but its own rust. Similarly our country Bharat needs to be recognised and upheld by its own people. Recognise yourself as a Bhartiya first. Your state, language, religion obviously comes later. How difficult is it to rise above ones political ideologies and be a true nationalist, In this mindless obsessive rancour towards the current government, people have forgotten the meaning of patriotism and nationalism. Its plain sad.

Everyday is a free day for us then everyday is to be celebrated as Martyr day. Gratitude unto Martyrs and every Soldier for their immense sacrifice for their homeland. Koti koti naman to our freedom fighters, the innumerous unsung & unknown heroes who sacrificed their lives for their fellow citizens to be able to breathe in a free Bharat again.C@Rg

Freedom fighters / revolutionaries and our soldiers who evoke Patriotism , Nationalism & Sacrifice of unscalable heights , these brave hearts with their legacy continue to inspire the youth across Bharat and therefore there is a continuous need for more to be written & read ,talked & heard about them …… be inspired by them. Let us try and be a soldier in our own way.

  5. Very bold and courageous article. Beautifully written. Very good and pains taking collection of facts. Absolutely true that corrupt TRAITORS in our own country helped mughals and britishers to rule and loot this country. Such traitors are still there in plenty in our society. It is a shame to disgrace our soldiers. Three cheers for your effort.
