When I was a kid and mom used to give me outdoor chores (even something as banal as getting milk), I would quickly change into a new set of clothes ,make sure to look my best and then only venture out ๐Ÿ˜†this habit or fascination carried on, & when I got married and would wait for my husband and kids to get back, I would always be dressed well to greet them “at home” . Well that’s the way I was and still am.

I have had varied and some hilarious reactions and comments to this. Some people asked me condescendingly ,”oh you aren’t even working then why are you always dressed up”,(as if we are condemned to look sloppy or it stems out of their own complexes & insecurites ๐Ÿ˜–) some others judge silently & looked on quizzcally while some verbalise their thoughts, almost aggressively and rude ,”oh you have well manicured nails which means you don’t cook??? Excuse me, can someone explain the CONNECTION here ?๐Ÿ˜ณ And there are the ones who say : that all your time is spent doing yog & looking after yourself ,so you surely must have a lot of free time and servants to run the house? To top it, wearing western outfits is when you get those raised eyebrows still, yes in 2020 also ๐Ÿ˜‰ To all these…….. I just smile with a silent confidence, ๐Ÿ˜Š so happy in my state, and also somewhere I know that all these comments are actually COMPLIMENTS in disguise to ruffle me perhaps or because they never think of dressing up themselves. Anyways , let me now reveal that dressing up and looking my best…..has a greater meaning for me – it is nothing short of an expression of happiness and celebration !! An expression of my inherent personal style quotient ,taste and the right attitude that i carry myself with ! It makes me happy, and Im pretty unapologetic about it. It is to silently tell family and friends that how important and special this moment is for me to be sharing this time with them. Then dressing up includes hygiene factors and of course it requires a disciplined life style. It cannot be underestimated.

It is sad that people rather than being INSPIRED have denigrated ‘looking after yourself’ to vanity and uselessness , on the contrary , I feel dressing up that includes your personal hygiene is as important as any other activity in life, …. you may be in a bad mood but a hair wash and a dress can change your whole mood for the day and in turn, keep others around you happy, such is the power of dressing. I am not a rebel , but I strongly feel that women and girls WANT to dress up more freely in terms of their choices…that is important here. Setting norms and rules for them to follow is subjugating suppressing their vision and creativity and their souls too. I think logically so firmly believe, that it is strictly a personal choice and they should have the freedom to dress as they wish.

Let us dress without the fear of being judged all the time and by our own friends, sisters , cousins, relatives. Its time for us, women at least, to lift and uplift each other in every possible way. Let us build confidence, inspire, whatever, but we need to do it as a community.(will tackle the men and their views later๐Ÿ˜…)

Compliments are rare these days so compliment anyone you feel is looking good (and if not) for you have the power to make others feel good & happy about themselves. This has a radiating & a rippling effect as you will realise it makes you happy and confident too! C@Rg

It will be a long long while before people stop judging….

So Girls, time to Wear it, Time to Live it!! Happy dressing….see you all soon!
